Ojai Valley Community Hospital, an affiliate of Community Memorial Hospital, is a 25 bed general acute care facility designated as a Critical Access Hospital with a distinct part 66 bed skilled nursing facility. OVCH provides inpatient, outpatient, and skilled nursing services for mostly primary and secondary care needs. In addition we operate a 24-hour standby emergency department.

The Surgical Technician will work directly with the surgeon and the circulating registered nurse. Creates and maintains a sterile field while assisting the surgeon in delivering effective surgical intervention. The position’s duties are highly variable, so the successful candidate must be willing adapt to change and keep pace with the other OR professionals on staff. Demonstrates superior scrubbing knowledge in most areas, expertise in 3-4 surgical service-lines. Acts as an expert/resource person for one service-line. Able to teach scrubbing skills for most services. Actively in-services and trains staff per departmental need.
High school Diploma or equivalent (GED) required. Graduate from accredited surgical technologist school required. Minimum two (2) years’ surgery technician experience in the Operating Room environment required. Must have the ability to Scrub majority of service-lines independently, precept others and is recognized as a resource for other staff. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification and basic computer skills required. National certification preferred. Must be able to respond to “call” within 30 minutes.
