Responsibilities

The L&D Operating Room Technician is responsible for maintaining the L&D O.R.s, creating and maintaining a sterile field during surgical procedures, assists with maintaining the environment and equipment in L&D, enters surgical data from the perioperative report into the electronic record, completes patient charges for surgical patients.  Verifies patient identification, respects patient's rights, explains activities to patients, reports change in status to appropriate personnel, demonstrates knowledge of emergency procedures. Performs activities in a positive, professional and prompt manner.  Greets patients and families with courtesy and hospitality.

Qualifications

High school Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required.   Graduate of a Surgical Technician program or minimum 2 years’ experience as a Surgical Scrub Technician required.  Current BLS certification required.  Understanding and knowledge of medical terminology, previous hospital experience and Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.
