Responsibilities

The Pharmacy Tech II assists the pharmacy professional staff by preparing or compounding medications for use by customers; acts as a resource for expertise in specific departmental areas, requires minimal instruction and supervision to complete tasks.  Outpatient prescription processing to include; processing of paperwork, billing, communications with medical offices, order entry, and filling prescriptions.  Fills 24 hour patient cassettes with medication, performs debit/credit functions and returns all unused drugs to stock.  Keeps assigned area of work in stocked, orderly and free from outdates. Receives and checks in the morning drug orders.  Prepares unit dose pre-packs in both liquid and solid forms.  Logs and delivers stock narcotics to floor.  Compounds adult and neonatal IVs, prepares, and deliver mediations.  Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications

High school Diploma or equivalent (GED) is required.  Certificate from college or technical school required.  Minimum of three (3) years related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience required.  Valid CA Pharmacy Technician registration required.  Pharmacy Technician Board Certified preferred.
