The Director of Patient Care Experience, Ambulatory Medicine is responsible for developing, managing, and implementing a robust program of nurse oversight with advancement of standards of practice and nursing leadership for our sixteen CMHS Ambulatory Medicine clinics. The Director reports to the CAO of Ambulatory Medicine. Key responsibilities for the Director include working with the CAO, Ambulatory Medicine and the System CNO to design, define and drive implementation of strategic initiatives, policies and standards across CMHS clinics with regard to nursing, medical assistant and patient care services. The Director carries responsibility for integrating the strategic plan of CMHS into all Ambulatory Medicine nursing and patient care services to ensure quality and consistency for patients and staff across any and all services within CMHS clinics. The Director will also serve as a coach, facilitator, and resource for service issues, process changes, and ensuring that newly established workflows are sustained with ongoing monitoring of the effectiveness for actions taken within the organization to improve service.
In addition, the Director will be visibly connected to organizations and coalitions on local level, while advising on nursing, medical assistant and all patient care services as an industry leader. The Director of Patient Care Experience interfaces regularly with his/her peers in Quality, Operations, Human Resources, Planning and Managed Care, Finance, Marketing and Development, and our Medical Directors.
Required: Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing, Health Administration, Business Administration or other related field. Current CA RN License or Nurse Practitioner. Minimum of five years progressive clinical & Executive/Senior leadership experience in patient care services. Previous experience in a large, complex medical ambulatory integrated system with multi-site environment and a broad understanding of clinic workflows for medical assistants and nurses along with a variety of perspectives on patient care services. Experienced clinical leader with a proven track record in advancing patient care transformation to reduce variation in care. Knowledge of and experience with care and insurance/population risk models and population health management. Strong business, planning, communication and financial skill set with the ability to manage complex projects involving multiple stakeholders. Demonstrated transformational clinical leadership skills (inspiring, problem solving, collaboration and communication across multiple organizations). Strong experience in Quality Improvement with regard to clinical care, workflows and creating Policies and Procedures. Management skills with technical expertise proven by superior planning, decision-making, negotiation, clinical leadership, business and financial management skills/knowledge with a focus on adding value to the bottom line of the business to foster a preeminent healthcare environment. Strong communication and relationship-building skills with all levels of employees, management and community leaders and a proven leader who is an effective, creative and visionary problem solver. Proven leader of people who is able to recruit, develop and mentor a top-notch team capable of supporting future growth and has demonstrated nursing leadership in promoting diversity and inclusion in the workplace and community. An understanding of how to achieve quality and other key business results in a geographically diverse health system with many types of clinical business units, having sensitivity for and an understanding of academic disciplines and issues.
Preferred: Master’s Degree in Nursing, Health Administration, Business Administration or other related field., proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Visio & Power Point and experience working within an EHR & Practice Management Clinical Practice Environment.
