Provides professional nursing care in the Surgical Services Department.   Coordinates patient care planning, with other hospital disciplines.  Functions as a clinical resource and exhibits strong leadership and time management skills.  Educates staff on required competencies specific to department.  Coordinates training for new staff.  Coordinates assignments and schedules with other charge nurses to fulfill department needs.  Responsible for compliance with Title 22, DNV, Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), Centers for Medicare and Medicaid (CMS), and Community Memorial Health System (CMH) Policy and Procedure.  Assists with the development or revision of unit documentation tools.  Reviews medical records and staff documentation for compliance with standards and regulations.  Takes “call” as needed.  Works with management to determine capital budget needs.  Participates in various aspects of the department’s ongoing performance improvement activities.  Performs other duties as assigned.


Current CA RN License required.  Current ACLS, BLS and PALS certifications required.  

Proven relevant clinical and leadership skills required.  Bachelors of Science Degree (BSN) preferred.  Certified Post Anesthesia Nurse (CPAN), Certified Ambulatory Perianesthesia Nurse, ASPAN /PANAC membership preferred.  Knowledge of Det Norske Veritas (DNV), bilingual and experience utilizing computerized documentation preferred.
