Provides safe, efficient, and therapeutic patient care services under the supervision and direction of a licensed physician and nurse in performing various duties in the Clinic setting. The Medical Assistant will perform the routine tasks needed to care for patients within the Centers for Family Health. Understands correct response to emergencies. Standard precautions are followed at all times. Reports to supervisor any and all safety concerns and incidents. Sends equipment to engineering for needed repairs. Responsible for the observation and reporting of all patients in assigned areas. Patient’s status changes are reported to the physician and nurse. Performs patient testing and vitals including blood pressure, height/weight, temperature, head circumference and body length measurements, and records these accurately in the patient’s record. Preforms other duties as assigned.
High School Diploma or GED required. Medical Assistant diploma or certificate of completion from an accredited approved medical assistant training program required. Venipuncture certificate and CPR – AED card required. Currently certified as a Medical Assistant by a recognized certifying organization or eligible to sit for exam within 30 days of hire. Acceptable certification are CMA, CCMA, NCMA, RMT, AAMA ABROE. Bilingual in Spanish and knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
