    Responsibilities

    Under the direction of the Administrative Director of Graduate medical Education, the Medical Library Services Manager is responsible for planning, implementation, management and evaluation of all library services, including strategic planning, budgeting, collection development and reference and instructional services.  The incumbent in this position provides professional quality management of knowledge-based health care information resources and efficient library services to the hospital administrators, physicians, residents, students and employees. Coordinates access to knowledge-based health care information. Supports the GME Program’s research and education mission.  Provides research and instructional support to faculty, residents and staff.  Manages the Continuing Medical Education Program.

    Qualifications

    Master’s degree in Library Science required.  Minimum three (3) years of experience in a health sciences library or other health sciences environment required.  Advanced knowledge and experience with current resources, vocabularies and research techniques in the biomedical sciences, specifically Evidence-Based Medicine tenets and teaching methodologies required.  Evidence of ability to meet university level standards in librarianship, teaching, publication and research, and service commensurate with faculty status required.  Knowledge of medical terminology, expert level knowledge of literature searching in OVID, Pubmed, Embase, CINAHL, Clinical Key, Clinical Key for Nursing, Docline, Linkout, Micromedex, Lexicomp and OCLC required.  Minimum five (5) years of experience in health science librarianship or health sciences profession, experience managing a medical library in a teaching hospital, familiarity with the academic health system and medical education environments preferred.  Experience working with clinicians, clinical faculty and students, initiating creative and innovative information services programs, performing in-depth literature reviews including, but not limited to systematic reviews, tools for developing online research guides and grant writing preferred.  Knowledge of best practices and emerging trends for instruction and library science, membership in the Academy of health Information professionals and subject background in the health or life sciences, or in information technology preferred.
