Ojai Valley Community Hospital, an affiliate of Community Memorial Hospital, is a 25 bed general acute care facility designated as a Critical Access Hospital with a distinct part 66 bed skilled nursing facility. OVCH provides inpatient, outpatient, and skilled nursing services for mostly primary and secondary care needs. In addition we operate a 24-hour standby emergency department.

Performs within the Clinical Laboratory standardized chemistry, coagulation, hematology, urinalysis, molecular microbiology and other technical analyses. Performs and responsible for the completion of technical analysis in blood chemistry, hematology, blood bank, coagulation, molecular microbiology and urinalysis. Responsible for prompt and accurate performance and reporting of all work assigned within established turn-around times. Demonstrates the ability to work well in high volume and STAT conditions. Maintains laboratory services in accordance with CAP standards. Oversees work performed by non CLS personnel, providing direction and technical assistance as needed. Assists in phlebotomy duties as necessary and/or obtaining all required specimens from inpatients and outpatients of all ages. Maintains strict patient confidentiality and recognizes age specific criteria. Maintains a safe environment in the laboratory. Assists in education, training and practice of safe work habits of fellow employees. Effectively deals with peers and hospital personnel. Resolves issues within authority limits and seeks assistance from supervisory personnel or pathologist as appropriate. Appropriately documents actions taken. Performs other duties as assigned.
Current CA Clinical Laboratory Scientist License required. Recent experience in a Clinical Laboratory of an acute care facility and ability to perform venipuncture preferred.
