Ojai Valley Community Hospital, an affiliate of Community Memorial Hospital, is a 25 bed general acute care facility designated as a Critical Access Hospital with a distinct part 66 bed skilled nursing facility. OVCH provides inpatient, outpatient, and skilled nursing services for mostly primary and secondary care needs. In addition we operate a 24-hour standby emergency department.

Performs automated hematology, coagulation, microbiology, urinalysis and chemistry waived and moderately complex procedures within the scope of the MLT license. Assists in Blood Bank duties within the scope of the MLT license. Responsible for prompt and accurate performance and reporting of all work assigned within established turn-around times. Demonstrates the ability to work well in high volume and STAT conditions. Ensures high-quality patient care, confirms that quality control and calibration criteria are met before results are verified. Oversees work performed by non-licensed personnel, providing direction and technical assistance as needed. Assists in phlebotomy duties as necessary and/or obtaining all required specimens from inpatients and outpatients of all ages. Maintains strict patient confidentiality and recognizes age-specific criteria. Demonstrates ability to use independent judgement, but recognizes limits of own knowledge and experience and defers to CLS staff when appropriate. Is able to perform infrequent tests by utilizing procedure manuals. Participates in performance improvement activities.
AA/AS in Medical Laboratory Technician program from a college or university required. Medical Laboratory Technician license from the State of CA required.
