    Community Memorial Health System is a community-owned, not-for-profit organization that consists of two hospitals and twelve family-practice health centers serving various communities within Ventura County.     Ojai Valley Community Hospital, an affiliate of Community Memorial Hospital, is a 25 bed general acute care facility designated as a Critical Access Hospital with a distinct part 66 bed skilled nursing facility. OVCH provides inpatient, outpatient, and skilled nursing services for mostly primary and secondary care needs.  In addition we operate a 24-hour standby emergency department.

    Responsibilities

     

    Job Description:

     

    • Assist in the preparation of consolidated financial statements, including inter-company transactions for both non-profit and for-profit entities
    • Responsible for non-profit entity transactions and reconciliations
    • Assume responsibility for corporate for-profit entities to include monthly financial statement preparation and journal entries, owners’ distributions, partner communications and receivable collections
    • Assist departments with budgetary issues and provide explanations to budget variances in a complete and accurate manner
    • Independently analyze complex transactions and provide recommendations for accounting treatment and processes
    • Explain key analytical findings through clear written and oral communications
    • Assist with the coordination and support of various audits and special projects as may be assigned
    • Participate in various corporate cross-functional teams
    • Evaluate and improve accounting systems and processes

    Qualifications

     

     

    Education:

    • Bachelor's Degree with major in Accounting is required.
    • CPA, CMA or MBA preferred.

    Experience:

    • Minimum of five years in a business office setting with emphasis in financial analysis and reporting
    • Healthcare industry background and public accounting experience preferred but not required

    Skills/Competencies:

    • Ability to multi-task and work in a deadline-driven department
    • Intermediate to Advanced knowledge of MS-Excel, knowledge of MS-Access a plus
    • Possess flexible work style that can adapt well to changes in industry and workload
    • Ability to confidently interact with all levels in the organization in a cooperative and collaborative manner to maximize performance, creativity, problem solving, and results
    • Proven ability to apply critical thinking and problem solving skills to unique and complex analysis to draw well thought-out conclusions with little or no supervision
    • Must be extremely detail-oriented and able  to work independently and navigate obstacles on assigned tasks with minimal daily supervision.
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to explain complex accounting in plain English to non-accounting professionals
    • Ability to understand business workflows on assigned tasks
