The Registered Nurse provides and supervises nursing care as established by CMHS standards of care. The Nurse is responsible for the delivery of coordinated nursing care for a patient or an assigned group of patients within a patient care unit. The Nurse utilizes the nursing process in assuring comprehensive nursing care to a wide variety of patients and families. They are responsible for the day-to-day management of the related clinical activities. They supervise and direct activities of various levels of assigned nursing and ancillary personnel, utilizing professional discretion and independent judgment.
The Nurse Residency Program is a Transition-to-Practice opportunity for the new graduate nurse. The program starts with 16 weeks of preceptor supervised clinical activities, classroom based learning, case study, hands-on and simulated training. The program continues with monthly seminars (8 Nurse Residence Seminars) ending at one year with program completion.
Associate of Science in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelors of Science in Nursing (BSN) required. Current CA Registered Nurse License by August 15, 2018 required. Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification required upon hire. Bilingual in English/Spanish and current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certification preferred.
