Position Overview:

Responsible for supervising, leading and guiding Nursing Clinical Informatics programs.  Collaborates with clinical department directors, managers, clinical nurse supervisors, charge nurses, and clinical experts, which may include physicians and other key staff in overall project evaluation.  May assume responsibility for coordinating the various aspects of planning, design, development, enhancement, testing, implementation, maintenance and evaluation of clinical informatics systems.  Identifies key benchmarks for use in evaluation.  Serves as the liaison for health IT efforts representing nursing clinical needs, incorporating nursing research and evidence-based nursing knowledge into nursing informatics practice. 


The manager is the nursing sponsor for utilization and implementation of a variety of software products including, but not limited to NDNQI/CALNOC, Kronos (Staffing, Scheduling, Assignment & Acuity), TeleTracking, Micromedex Care Notes, MEDITECH Nursing Module and eVideon Patient Education.  Is an expert clinician who ensures the completion and effectiveness of assessing, planning, implementation, evaluation and optimization of the nursing informatics projects.


Supervisory Responsibilities: 
This position is responsible for the direct supervision of the Nursing Clinical Informatics department in all assigned areas of the healthcare facility.  Responsibilities include planning, assigning, and directing work; development and implementation of goals and budgets; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. 



  • Bachelor’s in Nursing Degree (BSN) from an accredited four-year college or university required
  • Three (3) to Five (5) years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience in healthcare informatics related role
  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) License in State of California
  • Current BLS Certification
  • Effective written/oral communication skills, critical thinking skills and problem solving ability
  • Demonstrated ability to be self-directed with excellent organizational and prioritization skills
  • Basic project management skills


  • Masters in Nursing (MSN)
  • Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR); MEDITECH software training/support experience; and/or exposure to PICIS software or other nursing related software products helpful
  • Microsoft office experience
